About Us:

After 46 years in senior living Country Meadows remains family managed and 100% family owned. Country Meadows was founded by former Pennsylvania Governor (1955-59) and Mrs. George M. Leader, both still live in Hershey and remain active as advisors and board members.  

Today, Governor and Mrs. Leader’s son, Michael, serves as the chairman and chief executive officer of the company.  Michael has served in various capacities in healthcare management for over 25 years.  Currently, he serves on the Leadership Council of the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA), an organization that represents assisted living facilities throughout the nation, including Country Meadows.

Another member of the family joined the Country Meadows management team in 1987.  Ted Janeczek is a CPA with experience in accounting and management consulting, and investment banking.  Ted holds the position of chief financial officer and executive vice president of finance and administration for George M. Leader Family Corp.  He also is the treasurer of the Pennsylvania Assisted Living Association and a board member of the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Pennsylvania Chapter.  Ted is married to Governor and Mrs. Leader’s daughter, Jane.

In 2002, son David returned to Country Meadows as the company’s chief operating officer and executive vice president.  David’s prior work experience includes 10 years of operations and managerial assignments with a Fortune 500 manufacturing company both domestically and internationally.  In past years, David has served with Country Meadows in a variety of special project roles and as vice president of corporate planning responsible for capital projects and maintenance.  He has been a director of the George M. Leader Family Corporation since 1985.
