  • Manages the business analyst team, including setting direction for the group, developing standard practices and deliverables, distributing work and reviewing progress.

  • Works with senior and executive business management as a liaison and to represent how technology can add value to their business model.

  • Develops opportunities for business analysts to act as liaisons between the IS organization and the business units.

  • Coordinates with the Project Management Organization to assign staff to prioritized projects for business case development and project execution.

  • Coordinates with the application leaders to assign staff for support and enhancement activities.

  • Leads the organization supporting highly complex business processes, requiring design or integration of technical solutions that may cross multiple functions of the business.

  • Works with business leaders and acts as a liaison between IT and business units or vendors. Viewed as integral to the business in any decisions that may be impacted by technology. Acts as a business relationship manager responsible for the collection, analysis, review, documentation and communication of business needs and requirements to the IT organization.

  • Leads the gathering of business needs through direct interaction with business unit leaders. Focuses on developing and improving business processes, assisting with the development of metrics, both within the technology and business organizations.

  • Has a strong understanding of information systems, business processes, the key drivers and measures of success for the business, and the short- and long-term direction of the business and technology.

  • Identifies, proposes and influences business solutions, negotiates deliverables and requirements across multiple business customers or organizations. Ensures that the design and integration of proposed system, software and hardware solutions leads to the development and growth of the business through effective use of technology. Integrally involved in 'buy versus build' decisions.

  • Participates in short- and long-term planning sessions with clients to improve business processes. Documents discussion and agreements.

  • Manages priorities of projects and requests.  Assesses needs utilizing a structured requirements process (gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes) to prioritize immediate business needs and recommends options, risks and cost vs. benefits.

  • Develops and assists in the presentation of business cases.

  • Develops, writes, and communicates business requirements for the design and implementation of business solutions.  Utilizes technical assistance to help in problem resolution.

  • Reviews test plans and monitor the testing process to ensure that business results are adequately tested with minimal risk. 

  • Promotes an understanding of IT roles, processes and activities to the business units. Supports and participates in the formal reporting of project status.  Manages customers' expectations.

  • Monitor progress to ensure group objectives are delivered on time and within budget, and business results are realized. 

  • Monitor expectations from the business and take corrective action to address gaps.

  • Develop and oversee use of best practices within business analyst team.

  • Ensure consistency in deliverables and quality across applications and projects. Lead resolution of process-related issues, as appropriate. 

  • Supervises subordinate staff for development, project direction and production quality and quantity. 

  • Responsible for hiring, coaching, performance appraisal and disciplining of subordinate staff.

  • Ensures compliance to company policies, procedures, standardized or revised processes and best practices along with federal, state, local and Joint Commission regulations.

  • Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.


  • Education or experience equivalent to a four year college degree is required.

  • At least ten years related experience is required.

  • Healthcare industry experience preferred.

  • Distribution or pharmacy experience is a plus.
