Pharmacy Purchasing Assistant



SUMMARY
Assists purchasing department in managing inventory for a large volume pharmacy servicing long-term care facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Responsible for receiving, stocking and logging the inventory of all medications.
2. Maintains proper inventory controls and storage of in-date medication stock.
3. Provides clerical support and analysis in the process of managing the pharmacy
inventory.
4. Maintains returns of outdated and unusable medications for credit or destruction.
5. Retrieves recalled drugs and documents action taken.
6. Assists in answering questions of the pharmacy staff in the absence of purchasing manager.
7. Participates in continuous quality improvement programs.
8. Performs related duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and perform these job duties with or without reasonable accommodation. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Washington pharmacy technician license preferred but not required.    

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of pharmacy operating system helpful.  Experience with PC and Microsoft Work and Excel a must.
