The palliative care advanced practice nurse provides direct and indirect clinical care to patients and families experiencing chronic and/or terminal illness. Responsible for daily clinical consultations, program development and education within the assigned entity. Must be board certified in appropriate population foci with intention to become board certified in hospice and palliative care. Licensed as a NP or CNS, prescriptive authority and DEA preferred. RN Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist, MSN required. National cert. required within 1 year. 1-2 yrs as NP req. Voted Home Care Elite for 2011.
