The Summit at Northwest Hills is currently accepting applications for a full time Maintenance Tech / Driver. This is a shared position that will be responsible for general community maintenance and transporting residents in a 14 passenger van.

As the Maintenance Tech:

  • Maintains scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on, but not limited to: H.V.A.C., elevator, fire and sprinkler equipment, generator, landscape, kitchen equipment, and emergency pull cord equipment.
  • Responds to maintenance requests by residents for items needing repair in their rooms, including repairing plumbing, electrical, heating and replacing light bulbs.
  • Repairs and maintains vacated rooms in a timely manner. This includes painting and cleaning carpets. Assures that walls, floor coverings, doors, and woodwork in the common areas of the community are properly maintained.
  • Maintains positive communication with local fire marshal, building inspector, state elevator inspector, and any other jurisdictions governing the community.
  • Conducts in-service fire safety training for all employees.
  • Repairs walls, floor coverings, doors, and wood work in the common areas of the residence.
  • Assesses all plumbing and electrical problems within the residence and determines the best course of action to correct the problem. Works within the legal scope of local and state codes.
  • Documents life safety/safety issues as well as physical plan deficiencies as related to local, county, state and federal guidelines. Reviews material safety data sheets (MSDS) as requested for potential exposure to hazardous chemicals used and takes necessary precautions.
  • Responds appropriately to management and/or community emergencies by assisting as needed.

As a Driver:

  • Transports residents to appointments, errands, and other activities as needed, including doctor appointments, grocery shopping, banking, worship services, etc.
  • Drives residents to events and community programs per the activity schedule.
  • Carries belongings, opens doors, and cautions residents on steps and other objects in their path. Opens/closes and loads walkers and wheelchairs.
  • Calls residents' room for morning reminders.
  • Assists residents in and out of the vehicle utilizing the wheelchair lift and/or stairs, if needed.
  • Ensures residents are safely seated with seat belts secured.
  • Assists residents in wheelchairs during activities outside the residence.
  • Accounts for presence of all residents when leaving or returning to the residence.
  • Fills the residence motor vehicle with gasoline at pre-approved service stations.
  • Keeps the facility vehicle clean and properly maintained. Reports mechanical issues and repairs to the supervisor or maintenance department and schedules appointments as needed.
  • Responds immediately and appropriately to all accidents and emergencies, based on established protocol.
  • Interacts with residents in a friendly manner providing meaningful attention and communicating concerns of resident's health to management as appropriate.
  • May be responsible for ensuring all vehicle license plates, inspection tags, and insurance cards are current and displayed properly.
