Identifies, engages and implements new Medicaid business for the organization. Works closely with state regulators to identify solutions to their Medicaid program needs and leads WellCare's efforts to respond to RFI and RFP requests.   Performs implementation planning and executition of new business opportunities.  Assesses the competitive landscape and market entry considerations to drive growth decisions.

 

Essential Functions: 

 



  • Leads market assessment initiatives to correctly identify competitive landscape for new Medicaid business initiatives for the organization.  Provides strategic and tactical leadership in the development of new and emerging businesses. 

  • Develops thorough understanding of state Medicaid climate in order to provide recommendations and solutions for potential state Medicaid customers.

  • Assesses operational infrastructure requirements and market specific resources required for implementation, while establishing the internal solutions project to commence market entry.

  • Researches, understands and communicates to leadership reimbursement considerations and major cost drivers within a given market.

  • Develops market entry scorecard to provide preliminary assessment information to frame issues for senior leadership. 

  • Develops, implements and monitors strategies business plans and action steps to achieve maximum market penetration.

  • Directs the strategic planning process and establishes key processes and roles.

  • Manages the execution of all activities related to the implementation of new Medicaid business opportunities. 

  • Builds strong cross-functional relationships with internal departments to implement business strategies.

  • Manages and develops direct reports.

  • Directs work assignments, measures results and provides guidance to direct reports

  • Performs other duties as assigned.



 

 
Education/Experience: 


  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field, A Master's Degree preferred.

  • 7 years experience in revising existing and/or developing and implementing new business strategies.   5 years experience working in a managed care environment


Special Skills (e.g. 2nd language): 


  • Excellent knowledge of provider networking, legislative and political landscape influences

  • Excellent knowledge of health plan operations

  • Strong analytical, planning, organization and consulting skills

  • Proven leadership ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment

  • Ability to work both strategically and tactical to accomplish objectives

  • Strong organizational and strategic planning skills.

  • Effective negotiator with often challenging community groups and government organizations on complex business issues


Technical Skills/Requirements: 


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office such as Word, Powerpoint, Access, Excel and Outlook.


Other Requirements:



  • Travel - 25 to 75%
