TRISUN is currently seeking Certified Medication Aides to join The Meadows of Orange team!

 

SUMMARY         

Administers prescribed medications to residents and maintains related medical records under supervision of Director of Nursing by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments as defined by state and federal regulations in accordance with company policy and procedure.
  • Verifies identity of resident receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, route and time of administration on resident’s chart.
  • Presents medication to resident and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication.
  • Takes vital signs or observes resident to detect response to specified types of medications and prepares report or notifies designated personnel of unexpected reactions.
  • If  prescribed drugs are not administered, reports such to charge nurse or nurse management and document reasons.
  • Reconcile with licensed nurse received supply of ordered medications for administration to resident.
  • Records and restocks medication inventories.
  • Counts narcotics at the beginning and end of shift and records on appropriate company forms.  Notifies Director of Nurses immediately of any discrepancies.
  • Maintains security of medications according to company policies.
  • May provide direct resident care such as bathing, dressing, and feeding residents, and assisting in examinations and treatments.
  • Documents in CARE Tracker system or flowsheets as required.
  • Responds to call lights in a timely manner.
  • Monitors for effectiveness of PRN medications and reports and documents outcomes to Charge Nurse.
  • Reports to DON/Administrator any alleged incidents/accidents or alleged abuse incidences and complaints, per State and Federal regulations and company policies.
  • Maintains confidentiality of necessary information.
  • Understands and adheres to the guidelines of “Residents Rights.”
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to communicate with residents and nursing staff.
  •  
  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Preferred one (1) year of previous health care experience.
  •  
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Successful completion of State Approved Medication Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program.  Current CMA and CNA  certifications.
  • Good standing in the state registry is required.

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT      Employee is required to hear, speak, sit, stand, and walk daily.  The position is located in healthcare facility environment.  Employee may lift up to 40 pounds and transfer 100 plus pounds.
