FTE Reports: Approx 50 FTEs
Position Responsibilities: The Director of Surgical Services is responsible, for the planning, implementation and coordination of all daily operations within the Operating Room, and Central Sterile Service (CSS) on a 24-hour basis. This responsibility includes, but is not exclusive to, directing and supervising the personnel and delivery of care within these departments, managing and coordinating administrative issues within the respective departments and the progression of the surgical patients throughout the day, acting as liaison between the department's staff, the physicians, and the Administrative Team. The individual in this position must be an exemplary nurse who is able to provide the safest, most effective nursing care to all surgical services patients utilizing the nursing process, capable of interacting and collaborating with all members of the health care team. The Director is accountable for all areas of customer satisfaction including staff, physician, peer, patient, family and administration. The Director is required to be accountable for productivity of staff and department, ongoing financial and fiscal compliance and a proponent of goals, objectives, strategies and business plan(s) of the organizations he/she serves. He/she must maintain employee satisfaction scores at the goal of divison/corporate level.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Masters in Nursing or Business preferred.
• Current New Jersey Registered Nurse licensure required.
• Five or more years experience in the surgical services areas.
• Five or more years of management/leadership experience.
• Current BLS certification.
• Clinical experience and credentials consistent with years worked as an operating room nurse and years worked as a Registered Nurse.
• Knowledge of JCAHO accreditation standards.
• Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills required
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
