The Charge Nurse plans, directs, and evaluates the overall nursing care and functions of assigned nursing units. This position also coordinates the activities of the unit and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nursing staff. Must also assess, monitor, and educate the nursing staff on patient care; institutes emergency procedures as necessary. Needs to be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a general population of medical-surgical and critical care patients. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and also performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to the Nurse Manager.  A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Critical Care background and previous charge experience is highly desirable!

  • Education: Degree from an accredited school of nursing, plus 2 years nursing experience in an acute care hospital required. BSN preferred.

  • License/Certification: Valid stateCA RN license ACLS and BLSrequired.

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years experience in all aspects of med surg ; acute care.


Critical Care background and previous charge experience is highly desirable!
