Divisional Director Human Capital Services

Holiday Retirement, North America's leading provider of independent living retirement communities, has a full-time position for a Divisional Director of Human Capital Services for East, Mid West and Southern Regions.

Summary:

As a member of Holiday Corporate Human Capital team, is responsible for leading, planning, directing and integrating the Human Capital processes and programs in the designated division and region, to enhance Holiday's ability to deliver exceptional service, "The Holiday Touch" and to support the company's financial and business targets. The position will provide hands-on regional support to the Divisional Managing Directors, Regional Directors and Community Managers, under the direction of the Executive Vice President of Human Capital.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four year college or university in Human Resources, hospitality or business administration, or any other related field; plus 5 years experience in human resources, of which 3 years in a management and planning capacity or a combination of relevant education and experience.  Spanish as a second language would be an advantage. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Carries out Human Capital planning and directs all functions of team member relations within the designated regions, including recruitment and selection, continuous learning activities, training, coaching of community managers, performance management coaching and training, health and the assessment of associate morale ‘In coordination with Risk Management facilitate and coordinate health & safety training and all necessary and required inspections;
  • Where appropriate, identifies the need for, researches, develops, recommends to the VP HC and MD's new policies and procedures concerning associates and their working conditions; through quarterly audits ensures the proper execution and compliance with company HC policies, procedures and guidelines; refers non compliance issues to the appropriate Head Office department, e.g. Human Capital and or Risk Management;
  • Coaches the Community Managers and Divisional Directors, in employee relations to ensure a favorable climate for continuous and effective associate-management relations exits in each community; built on mutual respect and trust;
  • Provides the Community Managers with the necessary support for continuous learning, training and the development of the associates;
  • Facilitate training for all Corporate mandated training and development programs, and initiatives to all associates, including those legally required, ensuring timely execution and implementation;
  • Coordinates and promotes probationary and annual performance reviews in all community's, and provide training when required;
  • When necessary acts as a liaison between management and associates to facilitate effective vertical and horizontal communication to provide support and guidance in all conflict resolution issues and escalates, where necessary;
  • Coordinates the smooth execution of the Associate Opinion Survey and directs, coordinates and supports the "rollout" of action plans as a result of survey;
  • Under the guidance of the Corporate Director of Compensation monitors the competitive practices of compensation by region;
  • Ensures compliance to Holiday's Human Capital policies, procedures and guidelines in all community's and acts as counsel to interpret content;
  • Ensures proper and up to date associate records in each community, in accordance with company practices;
  • Manages the recruiting and selection process, utilizing Predictive Index, and recommends qualified candidates for employment; counsels' community management in the selection of candidates;
  • Represents Holiday interest in the community for the benefit of the company through involvement in education and community activities;
  • Participates, when requested, in pre and post opening activities for new community's - START program.
  • Contributes to the compilation of the annual Human Capital Budget process;
  • Coordinates the unemployment process with TALX and the community managers.
  • Audit community I-9 process and ensure compliance.
  • Reviews and approves all terminations in conjunction with the RDs, MDs and Corporate Human Capital.
  • Must demonstrate high standards of ethics and personal accountability.
