Resident Services Director, Basic Duties

This position is responsible for directing, controlling, managing, and effectively assuring that systems are in place to provide for:

  • Direct, supervise and develop and implement resident care systems
  • Interview potential residents and families in a timely manner to allow a smooth move in to the community
  • Complete pre-placement assessments and needs and service plans; inputs obtained data into the Right Click system
  • Assure resident care and services meets acceptable standards and follows best practices and assess resident care rates in Right Click to assure accuracy
  • Monitor and update service plans monthly and at change of condition
  • Perform hospital, SNF and rehabilitation visits and assess all current residents using these services
  • Create and maintain appropriate and adequate staffing schedules at levels within budgetary, state, and policy guidelines to meet resident needs
  • Provide supervision, training, counseling, managing, coaching and evaluation of staff to assure proper resident care
  • Develop care assignments in accordance with resident care needs and staffing schedules
  • Monitor payroll report weekly and all overtime. Review time punch detail daily and report any changes promptly to Administrative Assistant
  • Read and monitor daily Resident Information Log, documenting any significant incidents in resident file
  • Oversee and supervise the medication program according to state regulations and policy
  • Review physician's reports on all new residents and clarify information as needed prior to resident move-in
  • Obtain yearly physician's reports on residents with a dementia diagnosis and updated physician's reports for those residents with a significant change in condition
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with all agencies and adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Assure proper documentation meets standards of practice
  • Work with families and residents to address their concerns about service and/or care issues
  • Manage and monitor department budget. Operate within established budgetary guidelines and according to current community census.
  • Communicate resident care needs with physicians and other health care providers and obtains medical records necessary to determine potential resident's appropriateness for community and to develop needs and service plans
  • Train new and existing staff in regards to regulatory standards and policy and procedures, and participates in department-specific New Staff Orientation
  • Coordinate and communicates resident care needs with resident and their responsible party
  • Contact family, responsible party and physician regarding any change in resident's condition
  • Market the community during visits to hospital, SNFs, rehabs, etc.
  • Assess regularly the physical, mental, social, emotional, and functional condition of all residents
  • Accessible to be on call to staff per schedule with Executive Director
  • Communicate professionally with physician, pharmacy, home health agencies, vendors, and family members as needed
  • Weekend responsibilities required and cover uncovered shifts in emergency situations, working shifts as needed
  • Incorporate the use of community resources and services where applicable and allowed by state regulations
  • Manage all operational needs of the community when acting as Manager on Duty.
  • Report any significant incidents on appropriate forms as well as to the Executive Director, Support Center, and licensing and other state agencies
  • Attend and participate in scheduled in-service programs, training programs and staff meetings
  • Perform all duties to exemplify and champion Westmont Living's Mission, Vision and Values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
