Overview:

Horizon Bay Retirement Living is seeking an experienced Media Relations Specialist to join its marketing communications department.

 

The successful candidate will obtain publicity and assist with crisis communications for Horizon Bay and its 91 nationwide retirement communities. This person will identify, research and become familiar with activities and stories that warrant public awareness and write materials for distribution appropriate to various media.



What you would be doing:

  • Manage story development process from start to finish including outreach to key media.
  • Generate frequent well-written press releases and pitches under tight deadlines.
  • Work with internal team to engage audiences on Facebook, Twitter and other platforms.
  • Interact and develop internal relationships with colleagues within Horizon Bay to generate compelling story ideas.
  • Search for and identify key articles for publication in newspapers in key markets.
  • Conduct proactive outreach and nurture relationships with key media sources.
  • Stay current on trends within senior housing and healthcare.
  • Search for and identify articles and daily clips for email distribution.
  • Assist with managing crisis communications.


What are we looking for:

  • At least five years experience as a publicist working in the industry or related industry.
  • This newly, created position will require an independent, self starter who can organize and develop media relations from the ground up for the organization.
  • Successful at developing and placing relevant stories with media, online, print and broadcast.
  • Excellent interviewing skills required to draw out relevant content.
  • Ability to consistently write news releases, talking points and other materials on deadline.
  • Ability to develop and nurture internal relationships with colleagues.
  • Successful with developing relationships with key media sources.
  • Show professionalism while working in a fast paced fluid environment with multiple responsibilities.
