Job Description: 
Successful candidate will have a minimun of 5 years experice in the Senior Living Community. Primary authority and responsibility for nursing staff and practice; resident care polices and procedures; quality of resident care;  infection control; staff development; and department budget development and management. Demonstrates effective leadership to assure communication of Centura Health's mission, vision and core values and promotes the success of its goals. Recruits, hires, disciplines, evaluates, and terminates nursing staff in accordance with Centura Health Principles and Values. Determines staffing patterns per resident census and acuity. Oversees all resident nursing care processes, including assessments, physician communication, care planning, and documentation. Ensures that nursing care meets all nursing practice and regulatory requirements. Develops and implements policies and procedures related to resident care. Coordinates with other departments in development of policies and procedures related to inter-departmental communication and other interdisciplinary functions. Develops department budget, with direction from Administration, and monitors spending to maintain both budgetary control and quality of care.
Implements on-going departmental quality management programs, including infection control. Prepares reports for and participates in the functions of the Quality Assurance Committee. Assures staff education and inservice programs will meet regulatory requirements, as well as subjects related to current resident care issues. Previous Long Term Care experience as a DON highly preferred.
